Teacher Information

The Festival is a free, half-day environmental education event that engages fourth-grade students from throughout the Portland, Oregon metro area. Each year, students from approximately 20-25 schools come to a college campus for a day of learning and fun.

How do I sign my class up?

The deadline for submitting an application was Friday, December 8, 2023. Teachers will be contacted the week of January 6, 2024.

What is the goal of the Children’s Clean Water Festival?

The goal of the Children's Clean Water Festival is to teach children that they are capable of having real, long-lasting, positive impacts on water resources and to equip them with the information they need to do that in a fun and engaging way.

Is there any cost involved in bringing my class?

There is no charge to attend the Children’s Clean Water Festival.

Where does the Children’s Clean Water Festival take place?

The Children’s Clean Water Festival will be held at PCC Sylvania, 12000 SW 49th Ave, Portland, OR 97219.

How many chaperones will I need to recruit for my class?

You will need to recruit class chaperones to attend the Festival with your class. A ratio of one chaperone to six students is recommended. (If you have more chaperones than you need, please encourage them to consider volunteering at the Festival.) You and your chaperones are required to stay with your students at all times.

Day-of schedules

Accepted classes will receive the schedule in spring 2024.

Attendance

Your class is expected to attend the entirety of the festival if chosen. Please contact the Event Coordinator and pass along your space to another class if you are unable to attend for the full day.

Cancellation

If you are no longer able to attend the festival after being accepted, please contact the Event Coordinator as soon as possible so another class can make arrangements to attend.
