Children's Clean Water Festival
The Children’s Clean Water Festival is a free environmental education event engaging fourth-grade students from throughout the Portland, Oregon metro area.
Each year, students come to a college campus for a day of learning and fun that includes hands-on, water-focused activities, classroom presentations, and stage shows that reinforce STEM, Common Core, and Next Generation Science concepts. The 2024 festival will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at PCC Sylvania.
Throughout the day, students move from one activity to another to explore a variety of water-related topics including water science, ecology, native fish, water quality, and ways they can protect and conserve natural resources.
The Festival’s classroom presenters and exhibitors represent a variety of public, private, and non-profit organizations that are committed to water and environmental education. In addition, volunteers play a variety of roles to help make the Festival a success.
About the Children's Clean Water Festival
Started in 1994, the Children’s Clean Water Festival has engaged more than 32,000 students in a day of learning and fun that includes more than 40 hands-on, water-focused activities, classroom presentations, and stage shows.
The goal of the Festival is to teach kids that they are capable of having real, long-lasting, positive impacts on water resources, and to equip them with the information they need to do that in a fun and engaging way.
A committee of partnering agencies provide financial and staff time to coordinate the Festival, and day-of support comes from classroom presenters, exhibitors, and community volunteers.
The Clean Water Festival is a community supported event, organized by a group of public, private, and non-profit organizations, all committed to water and environment education in our region. The Children’s Clean Water Festival would not be possible without the generous financial and in-kind support provided by our numerous partners.
